MiniVisor 230 VAS is the latest vehicle activated signs or speed indicator device from Radarlux Radar Systems (UK) Ltd. which has been developed to display and store the speed of passing vehicles. The unit combines a radar sensor with a 2½ digit 7 segment LED display, the control electronics and the battery power supply. The MiniVisor has 286mm high performance SME LED’s with automatic brightness control, which will display the speed without blinding the drivers at night and yet, with its sensitive electronics will be clearly visible in bright sunlight. The MiniVisor has been designed for universal operation and stands out due to its ease of handling and extremely low component weight. It may be operated on rechargeable batteries, with solar assistance or via a 240v AC/DC adaptor. A 2-megabyte internal memory has the capacity to store approximately 270,000 activations. Each activation is stored as a VBV record with its speed, date and time. The user may select up to four operating times (On/Off) programmable for each day. These can be used for example to increase the duration of use and, or the effectiveness of the deployment. The MiniVisor is now capable of measuring and displaying speeds as low as 1 mile per hour. This makes the unit ideally suited for applications such as factories, building sites and low speed environments. As an added feature the user can select the use of a decimal point up to speeds of 10 mph. This function offers the approaching driver a greater awareness of his or her speed. The displayed characters gradually change rather than in course jumps of 1 mph.
